It’s that time again. Will I? Won’t I? Should I? Shouldn’t I?
How can I not when I remember the fullness of the completion of the journey of years past? How can I not when I think that maybe one other person over the next 49 days may find some hope, some joy, some help, some comfort? How can I not when I am so overwhelmed by the thought of Chesed SheBeChesed I don’t know whether to laugh or cry?
Chesed. Embodied, enacted Love. Our tradition tells us that the very act of Creation was nothing more - and nothing less - than an act of Love by the Eternal One, who surrounds and fills eternity.
Chesed SheBeChesed. Chesed Within Chesed. Embodied, Enacted Love filling and surrounding Enacted and Embodied Love. An endless spiral dance of generosity, surrounding and filling us as we take our next steps towards liberation. Filling and surrounding us as we move away from the narrow places that have held us, and to which we have held fast for the comfort of the familiar. Surrounding and filling us as we embark on this seven week journey of tikkun - of repair.
We hope, during this time, that we will bear good fruit to offer when we reach Sinai once again. We hope that we will be sufficiently fertile to receive the gift of Good Orderly Direction that awaits us at the end of 49 days of patient counting.
We begin in the day of Chesed SheBe Chesed - truly an Eternal Love - assured that each and every day The One Who is All Existence and All Potential is continually engaged in renewing the original act of Chesed.
