Sovereignty. Shekhina. Selfitude. Reality. Actualization within Actualization. Reality. Selfitude. Shekhina. Sovereignty.
Expectations are inversely proportionate to serenity. This is what I call down as I face the empty screen on this, the last day of our Omer count, the final rung on the ladder to Revelation - the Word Revealed!
As I typed “Word” I became aware of taking care that my fingers did not slip a stray letter “L” into the mix. Which brings me to my next thought… The World Revealed is EXACTLY what we are talking about here. And how marvelous that, in our tradition, the World is built from Words and Numbers (Sefirot). I’m sure the authors of our sacred texts were not thinking about the astonishingly close relationship between the English words Word and World, but here we are. Eternal truths are eternal truths.
I hope you’ll forgive a bit of a ramble. From the blank page, so much sprouts. As you know by now, I am usually the one who is most surprised to see the Words that fill these pages!
The Reality of my Selfitude is constantly being revealed to me. Not just here, but in all sorts of blank page moments that arise on any given day. How do I walk my daughter through her panic? How do I do this brand new job that has never even existed before? How do I tell my wife that I forgot xyz… again? How do I manage the rogue wave of grief in this moment that I actually need to be functional?
There is so much we can’t plan for. Our ancestors could never have planned for hearing lighting and seeing thunder. Noah could never have planned for the moment he would be asked to build the biggest boat EVER. Moshe could not have planned for the moment he had to stand face to face with a burning bush.
Blank pages. They appear. They ask things of us. We show up. We continue our journey of Actualization. We are born again and again, perpetually renewed, right along with the rest of Creation. The World/Word Revealed.
