Wow! Receptivity. Space. Peak. Awe. Splendor within Eternity. Endurance. Day-to-Day. Long-Haul. Active Will.
While, in some ways, COVID life has caused a great global slow-down, the fact is that it has affected all of us in different ways. Some are faced with a sudden, mind-numbing monotony. How slow is too slow? Some have been faced with a sudden, head-spinning uptick in activity. (I now find myself leading a minimum of two services each week!) Some of us now have children home full-time. Some are juggling space at home as home becomes office, often shared with a spouse and those now-at-home kiddos.
One of my favorite things about the Hebrew language is the great variety of meaning that each word carries. One of my wonderful teachers once put it this way: “Every word means what it means, the opposite of what it means, and something about a camel.” That being the case, whether you are a part of the slow-down or the uptick, there is something for you in this day of Hod SheBeNetzach!
If you are among those feeling the weight of monotony, I invite you into the Wow! Aspect of Hod. You’re in the Long-Haul, Endurance race of this thing. How can you find Awe hidden in your day? What makes you say Wow!? Where do you see Splendor that can take you into one of those Peak experiences that are so vital? You may not have to look far.
If you are suddenly busier than you’ve ever been - existing primarily within the Active Principle of Netzach - what can you do to create some Space in your day? Can you take even a moment for an experience of Receptivity? Can you stop, and take three deep breaths, letting the air create Space in your torso, even as the time it takes to do this creates some Space in your Active mind?
May you be blessed with just the right aspect of Hod in your Netzachdik day!
